Description

Gypsum rock (calcium sulphate dehydrate – CaSO4.2H2O) was formed in geological time through the evaporation of seawater. It is often laid down in beds, ranging in thickness from a few centimeters to several tens of meters.

Because gypsum rock is slightly soluble in water it is not usually found above ground in wet or damp areas, but may be found underground, where it is not affected by the water table. In dry regions it may also be found on the surface, sometimes in the form of gypsum sand.

We produced most types of Gypsum for different applications as:

  1. Plastering walls and making decorative features in buildings.
  2. Soil conditioning for agriculture.
  3. Making moulds for pottery.
  4. As an additive in the manufacture of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC).
  5. In surgical splints.
  6. In increasing the hardness of water.
  7. As an additive in certain foods such as tofu.
  8. As an additive in medicines and pharmaceuticals.
  9. External applications in construction, such as in making walling blocks.
